DONATION APPLICATIONS
For applicants that do not have a history with the trust, or submitting a first time application, it is strongly advised they call the trust's administrator, Gae (027 226 1528) to discuss the appropriateness of their proposed application.
Applying for individual assistance is for individual applicants supported by a service provider with a strong emphasis on working with families with children up to 21 years old (where there is financial hardship).
Along with the application, a one page letter outlining the child's family/financial circumstances, the purpose of the grant and how it will benefit the child. Generally, it is expected that the item required is more for the child’s personal use i.e swimming lessons, dance lessons, sports subs, sports uniform, and will bring him or her enjoyment, initiate increased confidence and self-esteem etc. Please note this excludes electronic equipment.
Applications for assistance to cover behavioral or learning assessments will also be considered.
An additional supporting letter from the child's school is also required for these applications.
Please ensure all applications are for future activities or events i.e no retrospective applications will be considered.
Organisation assistance is for service providers in the disability sector, for their own use. These organisations must be registered with Charities Services. Donations are made throughout the year to a maximum of $1,000 per financial year.
Donation applications for more than $1,000 are approved at the trust’s AGM in October. The close off date for the AGM applications is the end of September each year although these applications can be submitted at any time.
Please note there can only be one application for an organisation (group or AGM) per financial year (Apr - Mar)
The trust is GST registered and our preferred payment option is directly to suppliers i.e swimming or dance club/schools.
Only invoices addressed to the trust will be paid i.e do not send if they are addressed to the parent/caregiver/child or support agency.
If this is not practical i.e purchasing clothing/gear, then the organisation overseeing the application will be paid the donation and receipt/s will need to be provided.
Please refer to 'BCT Checklist for applications' for any additional information to assist with completing the application cover sheets or phone Gae for assistance.
Donations are for organisations operating independently in Canterbury & Westland.
